What will the Principal, Corporate Partnerships do?

SixThirty is hiring a Principal to lead relationships with corporate partners. The individual that fills this role will be a member of the leadership team of SixThirty. SixThirty’s investor base is a mix of incumbent financial services companies and high net worth individuals. The Principal, Corporate Partnerships, will be the relationship manager for our corporate partners, serving as the primary point of contact and accountable for the overall relationship. The Principal, Corporate Partnerships, will draw on a wide-range of skills and offers the opportunity for broad exposure to venture capital, start-ups, FinTech, and progressively minded incumbent financial services companies. The responsibilities of the role include:
• Relationship Management
  • Build relationships with all stakeholders at each corporate partner, developing a clear understanding of the stakeholder’s role at the organization, their expectations for engagement with SixThirty, and an agenda for absorbing innovation
  • Working with the corporate partner, define success metrics for working with SixThirty and drive efforts to meet and exceed such metrics on a regular basis
  • Develop “best practices” for how a corporate participates and engages with SixThirty and SixThirty portfolio and pipeline companies; as appropriate, help corporates evolve how they participate and engage
  • Hold periodic relationship meetings with each corporate partner, including CEO / senior level leadership; set agenda and objectives for such meetings and coordinate with SixThirty team members
  • Gather feedback from corporate partners on their experience and impact to help SixThirty improve our engagement model
• Business Development
  • Define/refine and refresh SixThirty’s value proposition for corporate partners; Bring an outside-in perspective and work closely with the leadership team
  • Support SixThirty Partner’s in building relationships with new corporate partners
  • Host roundtable discussions and similar events to spur dialog, collaboration and thought leadership among current and prospective partners
• FinTech Pipeline Development
  • Develop an understanding of each corporate’s innovation agenda in order to inform investment pipeline development
  • Integrate key members of each corporate into the pipeline development process by collaborating on scouting efforts, holding screening meetings, and coordinating calls/meetings with relevant startups
  • Establish a two-way idea sharing process through which each corporate becomes a meaningful referral source for SixThirty’s investment pipeline, and SixThirty’s investment pipeline is always fresh with ideas that are relevant to the corporate partner
• General management & administration
  • Working with SixThirty team, ensure corporate partners are appropriately represented in portfolio selection and investment management processes
  • Create opportunities for corporate partners to engage with SixThirty portfolio companies during and beyond the business development program
  • Assist SixThirty Principal with business development program planning, logistics, and relationship management

We are also looking for candidates that have requisite experience and background to carry out the job responsibilities. A genuine interest in the areas we invest and the manner in which we invest is a must have. In our opinion, this may be demonstrated through the following attributes:
  • A professional background in financial services, technology, and / or relationship management
  • An educational background in finance, economics, entrepreneurship, communications or related disciplines
  • An “executive presence,” including the ability to communicate in a concise and efficient manner with busy executives
  • Experience cultivating and managing professional relationships
  • Experience with early-stage investing, particularly in a collaborative manner
  • Diversity of background and perspective
  • Experience with adoption of new technology
  • Passion for innovation

The offer

The SixThirty Principal, Corporate Partnerships, is a full-time paid position. The position is based in St. Louis, MO. Our office is located at T-Rex in downtown St. Louis. The individual that fills this position will be expected to travel to see each corporate partner multiple times per year. The opportunity includes:
